Good Works

Today’s question is: How much of our good works gets us in right standing with God or make us righteous in God’s sight?

The truth is, no amount of our good works really matches God’s standard of righteousness. As the Bible says in Isaiah 64:6,  “All our righteousness are like filthy rags.”

We are not made righteous  because of our works. Our  right standing with God comes when we put our faith in the the finished work of Christ on the Cross. Jesus paid for our sins.  And when we believe in this, Jesus offers us his righteousness as an exchange. And this is a gift for believing Him and you cannot get it by works.

Romans 4:5 says this beautifully, “And to the one who does not work but believes in him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted as righteousness.” Yes, my dear friend it is your faith in the finished work of Jesus that makes you righteous.
