Lent

Today’s question is, “How can I benefit from observing Lent?”

The 40 days between Ash Wednesday and Holy Saturday, skipping the Sundays, is called Lent and is traditionally observed by fasting, self examination, and repentance.

Some of you may be observing lent because of tradition or because you want to walk closer with God or maybe because you are seeking answers or breakthrough in some area of your life.

Now how can a tradition like lent be used to strengthen our relationship with God? Allot time to read chapters in the Gospels that talk about the death and resurrection of Christ.

Spent more time hearing God’s word, because, “faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” (Romans 10:17)

Spend time studying the Bible, His word, because God’s word is life-giving as Jesus said in John 6:63, “The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life.”

Focusing on ourselves and our sinfulness leads to condemnation.
Focusing on Christ and His finished work leads to liberation.

So, meditate on who you are in Christ, not your unworthiness.
