Christ’s Death on the Cross

Today’s question is, “What has Christ’s death done for us?”

As we are in the passion week, let’s meditate on Christ’s death.

Christ canceled the record of debt against us that separated us from God.

He forgave us all our sins, having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross.
(Colossians 2:13,14, NIV)

God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross.

Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law.

Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law by becoming a curse for us. For it is written: “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree.” (Galatians 3:13, Berean Study Bible)

Christ released us from our sins.

“…who loves us and released us from our sins by His blood…” (Revelation 1:15, NASB)

Christ reconciled us to God.
Romans 5:10 (ESV) says, “…while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son…”

So my dear friends let us enter Easter with a thankful heart for the new birth, the new nature, and the restored relationship with God.
